On October 15th, 1924, Japanese Karate was officially born. With the help of Kendo master Yasuhiro Konishi, a Karate dojo was established at Tokyo’s prestigious Keio University, and a movement began that would, in time, encircle the earth.

This video contains essential material for anyone who practices Japanese Karate. It is both an illustrated genealogy and a guide to the fundamental style off Japanese Karate that developed in Japan sixty years ago as a result of the work of Yasuhiro Konishi, Choki Matobu, Gichin Funakshi, and others. Konishi was one of the greatest of the Japanese Karate pioneers. His work strongly influenced the development of Shotokan, Shotokai, Wado Ryu, Shito Ryu, Kyokushinkai and other styles.

Loaded with priceless historical material and professionally filmed instructional sequences, this is the definitive work on the historical and technical development of Japanese Karate presented by the legendary instructor, Kyoshi Yamazaki and the current headmaster of Shindo Jinen Ryu, Takehiro Konishi.
