The hakama (袴) is the traditional baggy trousers worn by samurai. Originally of various types, it now remains virtually only one type of hakama from the ceremony and riding. Today, the hakama is used in many traditional martial arts such as Aikido, Iaido, Kendo or Kyudo.
The hakama are made of cotton, silk or synthetics. They are traditionally black or blue in Aikido, Kendo in blue and black, blue or white in Iaido.
